Level Crossing Barrier with no Balance-Weight
The conventional switches layout has remained the same, while steps were taken to enhance operability and reduce installation, adjustment and maintenance work.
Features of a new level crossing barrier with no balance-weight
Reduced installation work
Transportation
The weight of the DE-type level crossing barrier has been reduced (120kg) by using aluminum in the main body. Hoisting bolts are attached to the main body, and the barrier can be lowered near the railroad crossing and then carried manually by four people. This eliminates the need for crane operations near the railway. The ME-type level crossing barrier has hooks for wires in the top section of the main casing, facilitating transportation.
Wiring work
The lateral side of the stand, where wiring work is performed, has been opened to facilitate drawing in of external lines. The space in the opening of the terminal section has been widened to facilitate the wiring work. A screwless wago terminal has been adopted to eliminate the need for tightening time, significantly reducing the amount of wiring work.
-The terminal Nos. are the same as those of existing level crossing barriers. (Power sources for control, controlling brake, and motor)
Adjustment
Since there is no balance-weight, all that needs to be done is to attach the barrier sheath to the bar holder and adjust cams on the circuit controller. Cam adjustment has been improved so that adjustment is now instant.
-Three balance-weights need to be attached for a refractive barrier sheath up to 10m. (The MCG-MEA series only)
DE-type level crossing barriers are equipped with a straight sheath of up to 8m.
Enhanced maintainability
Adjustment of barrier angle
Contact is formed in the circuit controller and the motor is shut down immediately. This means that the position of the barrier is not affected by people, automobiles or wind.
(Conventional models come with a control angle to the horizontal, to be operated after forming contacts, and a 100-400 mm tip of the barrier sheath remains when it is interrupted.)
No clutch
The clutch has been eliminated with small servo motor and electronic control.
When interrupted, burning of the motor is prevented by the timer controller (10 sec) when descending and by the current control when ascending.
Reduction of spots to be greased

The unified small servo motor and gear unit necessitates greasing only on the final gear.
This reduces the locations to be greased and the greasing work required.

Unified model
The conventional equipment included two different models for 6m and 8m, but the new one is for 8m, which unifies the 6m and 8m models.
Lower motor current
The servo motor reduces the start-up current, alleviating wear on relay contact points.
